Going Through A Difficult Time?
You have to remind yourself that its okay to feel the way you feel when you’re going for a difficult time its okay to feel weak it’s okay to want to cry it’s okay to feel overwhelmed just reminding yourself that it’s okay this is my number one way of how to find strength in difficult times is reminding yourself that the way you feel is okay to honor that feeling to accept that feeling to actually be okay with that what we see,
or what we perceive to be a weakness what we perceive to let us down what we perceive is a sign of you know instability or insecurity we’ve got to remind ourselves that when things are tough it’s okay to feel that way there nothing wrong with that any difficulty I go to I look two moments in history where people have enjoyed the same pain if not more extreme and analyze absorb and connect with how they got through it,
I like to see what they were thinking I like to see what they did I like to see how they structured themselves I like to look at how they organized I looked like to look at who they were speaking to I like to look at what was going through their mind at that time because you’ve got to remember that any challenge we’re facing today we’ve faced it before as an as human right beyond ethnicities beyond color race creed beyond backgrounds beyond all walks of life as human beings we’ve been through challenges before and we’ve got through them and therefore reconnecting with how that’s been done before is a beautiful way of learning,
how to overcome current challenges so you can either look at your past but real wisdom lies in looking at the past the people who made a difference you look at people like Martin Luther King you look at people like Gandhi you look at people who made world-changing differences not single-handedly but influenced from a single perspective from a single point of view and really connecting with the powerful moments in history now I’ve said this quote many times I’ve read it many times and this quote actually is unbelievable and the quote says that they thought they buried us they no we were seeds right it’s a Mexican proverb they thought they borrowed us they didn’t know we were seeds and,
I was thinking these when you tell yourself that story you start thinking much more differently right a seed is buried – it’s incredible that the seed goes through the same process as anything else it’s put deep underground right all of this mud is put on top of it it gets rained on it gets snowed on all these kind of things but it knows that it’s a seed so it knows that it can grow so there anything’s possible and it grows through and you see even plants growing through concrete sometimes right it’s unbelievable,
how much power a seed has so changed the stories we tell ourselves we can either look at challenging situations as opportunities for growth as an opportunity to learn as an opportunity to change be the change we can look at them and really fool down now that that second part is okay we can even feel like that right but we have to recognize it’s not permanent we’ve gotta accept that none of our feelings are permanent they don’t need to be permanent it’s a choice so if you need to vent vent,
I was saying to someone yesterday if you need a vent if you need to run if you need to complain if you need to share how you feel do that but recognize that those feelings are not permanent and it’ll be amazing when we realized we are seeds right that is the most powerful way of finding you help a lot of people start especially younger people but how does a person with four kids yes him right now doesn’t like his job yeah but just can’t quit and sell stuff yeah and find stuff in a junkyard so if you’re listening and you’re over 40 – let’s just use my age there something interesting you said something that I helped a lot of people that are younger,
it only has to do with one thing they actually believe in the technology we live in right this room is filled with guys right now who’ve taken advantage of YouTube or Instagram or just the Facebook’s of the world and the only thing I need to do to break through somebody who’s 47 in the suburbs of London who has a mortgage debt and three children is for them to understand that unlike when he or she and I grew up and there was no in net the thought of like having a happy life was separate than taking care of what you were supposed to take care of the fact that everybody can come home tonight at 6 7 8 9 p.m.
and then take out their phone or their iPad or whatever and get to work for 3 more hours and go to sleep at midnight get their good six or seven hours of sleep I’m not talking about don’t sleep a lot of people get me confused my big thing is if you’re not happy if you’re happy and you make thirty-seven thousand pounds a year Mazel Tovdo you but if you are not happy if you hate your job right you can do something about it instead of blaming Brexit or blaming Trump or blaming your mom like do something about it,
and my point is it’s the internet that progress will never come are you gonna get angry and lash out are you going to turn inward and just give in to despair and frustration or are you gonna take a deep breath straighten your shoulders lift up your head and do what Barack Obama has always done as he says when they go low I go high that’s the choice Barack and I have made that’s what has kept us sane over the years we simply do not allow space in our hearts minds or souls for darkness instead we choose faith in ourselves in the power of hard work,
faith in our God whose overwhelming love sustains us every single day that’s what we choose we choose love our love for our children our commitment to leaving them a better world our love for our country which has given us so many blessings and advantages and love for our fellow citizens parents working hard to support their kids men and women in uniform who risk everything to keep us safe young people from the toughest backgrounds who never stopped believing in their dreams young people like so many of you that’s what we choose and we choose excellence,
we choose the tune out all the noise and strive for excellence in everything we do no cutting corners no taking shortcuts no whining we give 120 percent every single time because excellence excellence is the most powerful answer you can give to the doubters and the haters it’s also the most powerful thing you can do for yourself because the process of striving and struggling and pushing yourself to new heights see that’s how you develop your god-given talents that’s how you make yourself stronger and smarter and more able to make a difference for others professional sports,
everybody always said oh he’s a closer and they said that’s the top level of a competitor and I always thought while working with Michael I said comparing him to everybody else and putting him in a category as a closer along with all the other players I said that’s an insult I see what this man goes through I’ve seen his preparation you know I don’t like to use the word legendary with him because he’s not a legend he’s an icon there’s a lot of legends out there there’s only one icon he’s an icon a cleaner is an individual what we call a don’t think person they’re so well prepared at what they to do they spend hours and hours of time years of getting prepared that no matter,
what’s thrown at them they’re going to deliver that end result over and over again their instincts are so dead-on that no matter what variable what problem they can adjust on the fly and they’ll have the ability to get themselves in what we call the zone the problem is in order to be able to put yourself in the zone preparation is the key isn’t easy and it shouldn’t be and you can’t if you can’t you don’t learn to struggle you won’t be able to deal with failure and deal with things that are going to happen and I’ve like you know I’ve hit the pavement and scraped the side of my face ten thousand times and let the only person that,
you know I could pick myself up was me and so if I didn’t learn how to do that I don’t think I would have a business for 19 years with Dimock records you know finally being successful self-sustaining business or you know you know deal with this very very grueling schedule which I absolutely love and it’s not like no one’s putting me in it like when I do 250 or 300 shows a year as a DJ it’s because I want to be in it and I’m not complaining you know no matter how tired I am the last thing I want to do is complain and that’s the one thing I’ve learned is that you know if you figure it out yourself and how to get,
there you will you will you know you’ll you’ll understand that the glory of like all the good stuff is coming your way you’ll you’ll take the value and really cherish if you’ve made a mistake or something has happened in the past that’s unfortunate you can cancel it out by simply saying the magic words I am responsible I am responsible if someone has hurt you or you’ve had a difficult experience in your childhood you can say well I didn’t do anything, yes but you’re responsible for how you respond today a Nobel prize-winning study of the evolution of civilizations came up with,
the term response-ability is your ability to respond effectively with the ups and downs and negative events of life is the key measure of your ability to be successful and happy in the future and the what you do is you say whenever you feel negative or unhappy about anything you say wait a minute I’m responsibleI’m responsible for my life I’m responsible for what happens I can’t change the past so I’m not going to spend a second worrying about the pastI’m going to become so busy working on my future and my goals that I don’t have time to think about the past.
