Soon will see an extra dimension in the technical education sector in the country. Under the new education policy announced in 2020, there will be drastic changes in the schooling structure. Under this, on March 12, 2021, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the country’s regulator of technical education, has made a big announcement.
AICTE has removed the requirement of three subjects: PCM, i.e. Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, changing engineering courses’ eligibility criteria. The technical education regulator has made these subjects optional. The All India Council for Technical Education has made Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) an optional subject for students on Friday, March 12, 2021. So far, students who could not study engineering after the 12th because of being weak in them will now be able to enroll in engineering after passing the 12th examination with other subjects.
AICTE Chairman Prof. Anil Sahasrabuddhe says that this change is in line with the new National Education Policy (NEP-2020). The new education policy has given some freedom to choose subjects. As a result, there will be an increase in students’ trends in various disciplines of engineering and branches such as biotechnology, textile, or agricultural engineering.
